At Need to Read (N2R), we believe that early literacy is the foundation for a child’s future success. Our programs provide age-appropriate books, hands-on family engagement, and community-based literacy experiences that prepare children ages infant to five for school and lifelong learning.

How We Build Strong Early Readers

We work directly with schools, families, and community partners to ensure every child—regardless of background—has access to the literacy resources they need. Our programs are designed to make reading fun, interactive, and accessible, while giving parents practical strategies they can use every day.

PROGRAM COMPONENTS

Book Bundles for Young Readers

We provide children with curated bundles of five age-appropriate books to help families build home libraries and encourage daily reading habits.

Curated Book Selections

Children in grades 2–5 choose from books tailored to their interests and reading levels—ensuring every child finds something they’re excited to read.

Engaging Family Literacy Events

Our style literacy events bring families together in joyful learning experiences, combining fun activities for children with practical reading strategies for parents.

Parent Training & Support

Our workshops, led by literacy experts, equip parents with effective ways to support their child’s vocabulary, comprehension, and reading confidence.

Partnerships & SIPPORT

We collaborate with elementary schools, Head Start programs, childcare centers, and local organizations to ensure literacy resources reach the families who need them most.

Neighborhood Reading Corners

We create turn-key Reading Corners filled with 200+ diverse books in community-accessible spaces, placing literacy within reach for children every day.
